Our Mission
Open Gate Ministries is an interdenominational Christian organization ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of persons according to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ through the provision of shelter, sustenance and companionship.
This beautiful old house was purchased in 1984. It provides a warm, home-like atmosphere for up to 34 guests in need of food and shelter. Family units and handicap facilities are available. Our staff members serve around the clock to assist families as they work toward reintegrating back into the community.
Open Gate Ministries is one of the very few shelters in Tulare County that houses families together. Most shelters either take men, women, or women with children. We love the fact that we have space where the entire family can stay together rather than being separated into different living spaces. We value family because God values family and desires that they heal and prosper together.
Services we provide include:
Housing for homeless families and individuals who are physically and emotionally in need of short-term care
Hopeful support in a loving environment to begin the rebuilding process
Guidance toward needed community resources designed to assist homeless families and individuals
Counseling through local ministers and other agencies (by referral)
Spiritual nurturing through daily devotions and optional Bible studies
Mentoring through various local churches and service organizations
Help securing employment
Financial education through small groups and classes
